WJE Plannotate®

Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates is a global firm of engineers, architects, and materials scientists committed to helping clients solve, repair, and avoid problems in the built world.

Plannotate® was developed internally by WJE in order to allow engineers capture site survey information while in the field on client projects. The initial application was built exclusively for iPad devices in order to be portable, allowing WJE staff to bring the technology to the project, from inspecting structural damage to a building to determining the point of failure on a bridge collapse.

Technology Strategy and Innovation

Sixty Four was brought in to conduct an assessment of how the Plannotate® software application compares in features and functionality to other similar solutions currently on the market. In addition, WJE wanted a wholistic review of the application, defining a product innovation roadmap, providing leadership within their product development organization, and exploring strategic partnerships.

Technical Project Management and Development

After understanding the existing platform and the desired product roadmap, it was determined that rearchitecting the solution to incorporate modern technologies and best practices would allow WJE to not only scale the product internally, but allow the product to grow should they chose to open up the solution to third parties.

After redesigning and establishing a clear product roadmap that could grow and scale to meet their current and future needs, we developed a detailed project plan and architecture, built a team of internal experts and outsourced software engineers, and managed the rebuild from the ground up of Plannotate 3.0.
